Sharon Dixon

–

Fairmount Heights, Maryland

With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Sharon "Sher" Dixon nee Hinds, embarked on her heavenly journey on July 28th, 2024. Born on April 10, 1961, in St Ann’s, Jamaica, Sher – as she was affectionately known – brought sunshine and laughter to the world for 63 spirited years. This compassionate soul made Fairmount Heights, Maryland her home for 40 years, and we can only imagine she's currently redecorating a corner of heaven with her favorite dominoes set, Sudoku puzzles, and a collection of Jamaican pastries.

Sharon mastered the art of being a dedicated correctional officer, a job that demanded a stern exterior, yet beneath that she was as soft as a marshmallow. A firm believer in hard work, Sharon would often juggle two jobs or pull overtime, just to ensure her family and friends were well taken care of. Her dedication was not just confined to her work life; it extended to her social commitments too. Each August, she would organize a celebration in her hometown, showcasing the diverse delicacies of Jamaica, a testament to her supportive nature and love for her roots. In between her job, social commitments, and solving puzzles, Sharon also found time to be a fervent tither, a testament to her Christian faith. As the Bible says in Proverbs 11:25, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

Sharon leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. Surviving her is her husband, Julius Dixon, her son, Simeon Royes, her sisters, Inga and Vergenia Hinds, her niece, Shereka, her great-niece, Donnae Champaigne, her daughter-in-law, Takia Royes, and her sister-in-law, Lina Dixon. She now joins her parents, Daisy and Collin Hinds, her daughter, Jonnie Royes, and her brothers, Ronald Doharty, Leroy, and Carl Hinds, in the eternal realm.

A visitation for Sharon is scheduled for Monday, August 12, 2024, at 10:00am EDT at Not About Me Ministries, 3106 Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, Maryland, 20748. The Homegoing Celebration will follow at 11:00am EDT at the same location. We encourage all to come and share their stories about Sher, the woman with high morals, a sense of humor, and an unending love for shopping and traveling.

Please feel free to leave memories, upload photos, and share your experiences with our beloved Sher on the memorial page. Each story helps to weave the rich tapestry of her life, a life filled with love, laughter, and a few too many Sudoku puzzles.
