Roger Eugene Wingfield Sr., lovingly known as "Joe," was born in Logan, West Virginia on May 2, 1952. He was a courageous man known for his charismatic personality, a loving father, and a witty friend. His life was a testament to the words of Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Joe, with his adventurous spirit, started early and never looked back. From his birthplace in Logan, he grew up in Washington, D.C., where he attended Shaw JHS and graduated from Cardozo HS. Joe was a hardworking man, dedicated to his work as a truck driver, and retired from Cox Automotive Group (Manheim of Columbus) after 15 years of service. He was not defined solely by his occupation, but also by his diverse interests. His love for fishing, working on cars, watching football and boxing matches, spending time with his beloved dog “Blue” and spending time with family and friends was evident to anyone who knew him. He was also known for his knack of throwing unforgettable parties back in the day. His charisma and wit were infectious, making him a beloved figure in his community.
Above all, what mattered most to Joe was his family. He was the proud father of Shontaya Larniece Redd, Roger Eugene Wingfield Jr., Katrice Lattawan Wingfield, Roderick Joseph Goodson, Jermaine Guy Wingfield (Erica Wingfield) and Shonnetta LaTonya Wingfield. His love for his family was a beacon that guided his actions and shaped his life.
