With her family by her side, Paulette A. McClees, 71, of Springfield, VA entered her eternal rest on July 4, 2022. She was born to parents John Thomas Johnson (deceased) and Bernice Landrum, on February 4, 1951, in Washington, D.C. Paulette graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C. and attended Northern Virginia Community College where she studied Business Administration.\n\nPaulette was married to Otis R. McClees, Sr. in 1975, and they lived in Alexandria, VA before moving to Springfield, VA where they have lived for 38 years.\n\nPaulette was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and godmother. She is survived by her husband: Otis R. McClees Sr. Her mother: Bernice L Williams, three children: Darrell Johnson (Stacy) of Maryland, Kelli Swinney (Elliott) of New Hampshire, and Otis McClees Jr. (Kate) of Washington, DC; five grandchildren: Jeffrey James, Stephen “Cristopher” Brown, Tyler Brown, Kayla Brown, Keegan McClees, and Brian Jackson-Johnson; six great grandchildren: Kaiden James, Ryann Williams, Gianna James, Makhi Brown, Harlem Thomas, and Summer Thomas-Brown; and one godson: Zacchaeus Williams.\n\nPaulette loved her family and her church. She was a charter member and licensed as a Deaconess at Spirit of Peace Baptist Church, in Capitol Heights, MD. Later, she was a charter member, licensed Missionary, and Administrative Assistant at her home church, Faith Tabernacle of Prayer and Praise COGIC, in Capitol Heights, MD, where she served with her whole heart for over 18 years under Dr. Kimberly Hayes.\n\nPaulette was a business owner. In 2010, she opened Kayla’s Friends Christian Day Care where she nurtured and taught the children about the love of God.\n\nAs her health declined, she never lost faith in God. When she could speak and was asked, “Do you know God loves you?”, her answer would always be “Yes!” On Friday, before she passed, the 23 Psalm was recited and though she was not speaking much at this time, she was able to clearly say with conviction the words, “FOREVER AND EVER”, at the end of the reading.\n\nThe family would appreciate your support and presence at the Celebration of Life on Thursday, July 14, 2022 with the viewing at 10:00am and service at 11:00am at Not About Me Ministry, located at 3106 Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, MD 20748. The family asks that EVERYONE please wear a mask for the protection of everyone’s health and well-being.
