Omolaja Matthew Olukunle, age 62, of Washington, DC, passed away on December 28, 2022, from natural causes. \n\nOmolaja was born on January 6, 1960, to Taiwo Josiah Olukunle and Esther Abeke Olukunle in Nigeria. Omolaja completed his early schooling in Nigeria and relocated to the United States in 1980 to attend college. He majored in accounting and went on to pursue his Master's in accounting. \n\nAfter pursuing many passions in life including being a Taxi Driver and Correctional Officer. He went on to care for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse making sure people were cherished in their final years. \n\nIn 1982, Omolaja met Yvonne Sampson at Southeastern University. They went on to have two children, Christina and Alice Olukunle. \n\nOmolaja was predeceased by Taiwo and Esther Olukunle. He is survived by his daughters, Christina and Alice. His grandchildren Darius, Camryn and Aaliyah Hack. His brothers Olayinka, Olaitan, Alani and sisters Juliana and Ebunoluwa. Also, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.\n\nServices will be held at Not about Me ministries located at 3106 Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, MD, 20748 on January 28, 2023. The wake will be at 11 am. The funeral will follow at 12 pm and repass will occur directly afterwards. The services will also be live streamed. \n In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Women of the Dove Foundation which is creating a scholarship in his name to assist a young male going into nursing, a cause we felt he would care strongly about.
