MY

Michael Young

–

Washington, District of Columbia

Michael was born on July 1, 1966, to Mrs. Ella P. Young. However, he would respond to the LORD’s call to come home on Thursday, October 6, 2022.
He was the third of three boys and four girls. Michael was the youngest of seven children. He grew up in the District of Columbia and graduated from Spingarn Senior High School. Michael spent a lot of time moving about the city, walking everywhere no matter the destination.
He had a wonderful personality and was kind to everyone. We never saw Michael angry. He would seek the opportunity to de-escalate potential discord. His smile and dimples would light up a room. He was a humble man and an example of meekness. Michael was able to change your mood with his funny jokes. He loved to spend time around family. He never saw a stranger because he would talk with and to everyone he encountered.
As a young child, Michael was active in karate, and would practice his moves on family members. He participated as an altar-boy in the Catholic Church. His favorite topics were guns and cars, he had an extensive knowledge of both. For leisure activities Michael would watch old westerns hours at a time. But nothing was more soothing to him than listening to the ‘Quite Storm,’ ‘Oldies but Goodies’ and especially R & B music.
Michael briefly entered the workforce as a Security Guard at Howard University. But he decided to assist in the care of our late mother, Ella P. Young. He had recently returned to attending mass, chose to fellowship here at Holy Comforter-Saint Cyprian Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by our mother in 2020 and a sister (Ramona D. Young) in 2015. He leaves to mourn three sisters: Debra L. Garris, Verna M. Young, and Patricia Hanton; 2 brothers: James J. Young and Calvin Rountree; and a brother and sister- in law. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, (greats included), cousins, friends, and associates.
Following Mass/Homegoing Celebration Michael A. Young’s remains will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
The Family would like to thank you for joining in our brother’s Homegoing Celebration.
THERE WILL BE NO REPAST.
