Kevin Ronald Keys Sr died suddenly on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Washington Hospital Center. He began his life’s journey on January 1, 1963, in Washington, D.C. born to his parents Vernelle Stevenson and Melvin Keys.
Kevin Keys grew up and lived in Washington DC his whole life. He worked most of his life as a barber. He loved cutting hair and spending time in the community. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, whether it was sports related or simply enjoying each other’s company.
Kevin was a loving, fun, and strong-willed man. If you ever spent time with him, you couldn’t have a conversation without talking about boxing, when the next match was and who he predicted to win the fight. His love for boxing started at a young age when he shortly boxed for the amateur boxing league. Ever since he experienced boxing, it became a part of who he was.
Left to cherish his memory are his six children: Tavoia Keys, Kenney Anderson, Gigi Diggs, Tiara Keys, Deana Fenwick, and Kevin Keys Jr. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: A’kira Diggs, Chaniyah Anderson, Chevy Williams, Ethan Watson, London Anderson, Knoah and Knavy Anderson, one living brother: Leon Stevenson (Wife-Maureen), deceased brothers (Douglas E. Oliver Jr., Melvin J. Stevenson, Richard J. Stevenson, Floyd Stevenson); and five living sisters: Shirley brown, Sandra Gilpen (Husband-John), Janice Graves (Husband-Monroe), Angela Smith; Tina Oliver and other family and friends.
