On September 17, 2024, Judi Adams entered fully into the presence of the Lord. Judi's life was a testament to the power of faith and resilience, a legacy that resonates in the hearts of those she left behind. As the late Maya Angelou said, "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them." Judi lived by these words, as she moved through life challenges with humor and courage.
Born on December 21, 1951, in the heart of Washington, DC, she was the youngest of 8. She was educated by DC Public Schools and spent the majority of her career in the federal government.
After retiring from the Department of Agriculture in 2015, she enjoyed volunteering for several organizations, and spent some time serving at the Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center. Judi was a lover of life and found great joy in exploring new places, relishing good food, and contributing to her community, always with a sense of joy and peace.
Judi's laughter was infectious, and she was known for her optimistic and no-nonsense approach to life. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was a source of strength and inspiration to many. She treasured her relationship with her beloved daughter, Crystal Stewart, celebrating her role as a mother with joy and pride.
Judi was preceded in death by her father, John Adams, her mother, Mamie Adams, her sister, Joanna and her brothers, Harold, Carol, John, and Darrell. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Crystal Stewart, her sisters Dorothy Morrisey (Vinson) of Forestville MD, Shirley Canady (Otis) of Waldorf, MD, a host of nieces and nephews and all who had the privilege to know her.
In honor of Judi's spirit, we encourage all who knew her to share their fondest memories and photos of her on the memorial page. Let us remember Judi for who she was: spirited, resilient, loving - a woman whose light continues to shine in our hearts.
