The Life and Legacy of Joyce Denise Warner-MacKall\n\nJoyce Denise Warner-Mackall, 60, our beloved niece, cousin, Godmother and friend was born on\nJuly 24, 1962, in Ferriday, Louisiana to the late Annie Sten Warner, as the only child. Raised by her\ngrandmother, Mrs. Ruby Lee Warner, from infancy. In the Warner’s household she was more like\na little sister than a niece.\nJoyce graduated from Ferriday High School. She was active in high school and aquired many\nlifelong friends. While in high school and the years that followed, Joyce formed a special bond with\nher friend Val Brown and her Family. This secured and spiritual bond lead Joyce to journey with\nVal’s sister Katherine, to Washington DC for expanded career opportunities.\nIn 2005, Joyce married Daryle MacKall (deceased). In later years, Joyce met her long term\ncompanion, friend and “Care Giver”, Tyrone Lancaster, who remained with her until the end.\nIn 2006, Joyce met Patricia Britton, her mentor and best friend, who encouraged her to further her\neducation to secure permanent employment. Joyce completed three certified computer training\ncurriculums which resulted in her obtaining full-time employment with the DC Department of\nCorrections in October 2007 working as a Clerk in the mailroom. In 2009, Joyce was promoted to a\nLegal Instrument Examiner working in the Federal Billing Unit where she remained until her until\nlong term illness began in 2021. Joyce met numerous friends and sustained many relationships\nwhile working at DC Department of Corrections\nOne of the greatest highlights of the bond between Joyce and Ms. Britton was the attainment of\nhome ownership in August, 2009. Every year thereafter, the two of them celebrated her home\nownership anniversary over dinner.\nJoyce loved family and friends. Joyce had an unpretentious personality which many people were\ndrawn to. And with that came lasting extended relationships. She always called and checked on\neveryone’s wellbeing with her special sense of humor that would bring a smile. She will be dearly\nmissed by all.\nJoyce started the next life with her heavenly family on October 26, 2022. She was preceded in death\nby her Mother Anne S. Warner. She leaves to cherish her life, her three uncles, Morris Warner of\nNew Orleans, LA, Gull Collier and Donald Warner of Ferriday, LA, her Goddaughter Naja-\nMiclaelyn Cannick of Georgia, Patricia Britton of Fort Washington, her Supporter and Friend for\nmany years, Tyrone Lancaster of Washington DC. She shared her life with a host of cousins, other\nrelatives and special friends who will forever remember her legacy.
