Jonie Gail Simmons was born in Greenville, Pitt County, NC to Frank and Sadie Ward. She was educated in NC and DC public school systems which led to her graduating from UDC with a Degree in Accounting. She met and married Lloyd Simmons on September 9, 1997. Together they raised four children. They made their home in Clinton,MD and were married almost 30 years until her death. Jonie devoted her time to cooking, gardening, church, family, and work. \n She worked in the mortgage industry as a home loan broker for many years gaining several awards and recognitions for her outstanding work. She also went into buying and selling/renting homes and cars. Then she managed to have several jobs after that which she excelled in. She was a hard worker in everything that she did and one of the nicest, cant forget strongest people you would ever meet. She was heavily involved in many industries at New Chapel Baptist Church. Then she transferred to Mt. Ennon Baptist Church. \n Jonie loved to help people and make people smile. She was one of a kind and a very business minded woman. She loved the word of God and used her love for the Lord to help others in any way she could. She loved to shop, cook, and sing...voice of an angel. Lets not forget those greens with those homemade pies were to die for. She sure could thrown down in the kitchen. \n She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Lloyd R. Simmons of Clinton,MD\ndaughters: Jasmine Simmons of Clinton,MD and Lauren Warner of Oxon Hill,MD; sons: Carl Russell of La Plata, Md and Desmond Simmons of Oxon Hill,MD; sisters: Freda G. Parker and Susan Ward; brothers: Douglass S. Ward and Prince E. Ward; grandchildren: Kiya, Kyla, Carl Russell Jr. (Manny), and Janelle, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relative along with extensive church family and friends.
