Johnnie Eiland departed this life on Thursday December 15, 2022, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, after a sudden illness, at the age of 92 years old. He was born on December 3, 1930, in Fairfield, Alabama where he attended Fairfield public schools. Johnnie often spoke about fond memories of his childhood in Alabama.\n \nJohnnie resided in the District of Columbia area since the 1950’s. He was employed as a Painter at the White House for 28 years until retirement. He was one of the leading Painters there. Johnnie was well respected by several White House Cabinets and awarded for his many years of beautification services of the White House.\n \nJohnnie was known for his style of clothes, shoes and hats. He would dress up every day even if he did not leave the house. It was the outward expressions of him! He loved to be home watching TV with friends and family. Every room in his home had a TV, including the kitchen where he would cook amazing soul food dishes. He also loved running errands, short road trips, watching sports, and being surrounded by his loved ones. He found joy in mentoring younger men over the years. He exemplified strength and strong faith in every aspect of his life. Johnnie was a devoted father to his children whom he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
