In Loving Memory of Helen Belle Massey Thomas

With hearts full of gratitude for a well lived life, we celebrate the life of Helen Bell Massey Thomas, who peacefully entered eternal rest on September 3, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 10, 1934, Helen's life was a beautiful testament to faith, perseverance, service, and unconditional love.

For more than seventy years, Helen called Washington, D.C. home. As a devoted member of St. Stephen Baptist Church for more than fifty years, she faithfully served her church family and community. Her commitment to ministry was especially evident through her work in the church's Nursing Ministry, where she cared for and encouraged others with grace and kindness.

Helen dedicated more than twenty years of service to the Federal Government. Following her retirement, she continued her calling to serve by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), using her gifts and compassionate spirit to care for others and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Helen is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Cassey Lee Massey Sr. and Allie Jane Massey Harris; her children, Willie "Pee Wee" Ernest Massey, Chester Williams, and Milton "Melvin" Williams; and her brothers, Grady Howie and Cassey "Butch" Massey Jr.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted son, Andrew J. Sutton Jr.; her beloved sisters, Bernell Bailey, Druciller Jackson, and Carolyn Alexander; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved church family. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that she has received her heavenly reward and now rests in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
Matthew 25:23

May her memory forever be a blessing, and may her legacy of faith, love, and service continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
