Fred ‘Big Sexy’ Bryant

–

Bladensburg, Maryland

The world will shine a little less brightly now that Fred ‘Big Sexy’ Bryant has left the stage. Born on a chilly winter's day on December 4, 1969, in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Fred’s funny and charismatic spirit could easily warm any room. He was a dedicated man, both in his work as a government contractor and in his love for his daughter, Shaniqua. He was reliable too, never missing a game day as an unwavering Dallas Cowboys fan, and always being there for his friends.

Fred never married, but he did court a few other loves in his life. This included his beloved hometown of Bladensburg, Maryland, where he held residence after his time in Glassmanor. Fred was a devoted member of the group known as Boss Gang, where his infectious personality left an indelible mark. He was passionate about food and spending time with friends. As the poet Virginia Woolf once said, "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." And Fred lived by this principle, making every meal and every gathering a memorable occasion.

Fred is survived by his beloved daughter, Shaniqua Bryant, and his sisters Charmaine Bryant, Brandy Slater, and a brother, Charon Washington. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kip Bryant. A gathering to celebrate Fred’s life will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00am EST at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 700 I Street Northeast, Washington, District of Columbia, 20002. The Homegoing Celebration will follow later that day at 11:00pm EST at the same venue.

Fred’s physical presence may be gone, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew him. We invite you to share your favorite memories of Fred on his memorial page, and to upload any photos you might have of our beloved 'Big Sexy'. Even though Fred is no longer with us, the laughter and love he shared will always be remembered. As Fred himself would have said, "Keep it light, keep it funny, and keep it sexy."
