Family Roots & Remembrance
Ellsworth Short: A Life of Faith, Family, and Service
Ellsworth Short was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative, and friend. His life was a testimony to the love of family, the importance of faith, the value of perseverance, and the lasting impact one person can have on the lives of others.
Ellsworth was born to the late Thelma Leona Hood and the late Joseph Edward Short. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Short and Charles Short.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved brother, Earl Raymond Short (Peggy), and sister, Lilian Beatrice Carter.
Ellsworth was also preceded in death by his forever love, partner, and best friend, Anne, whose love and companionship remained a treasured part of his life.

Service, Passions & Personality
Ellsworth understood that life was a blessing from God and that the greatest treasures we leave behind are not possessions, but the love we give and the lives we touch. His faith, family, experiences, and values helped shape the man he became.
He proudly served his country in the military, carrying with him the discipline, commitment, and sense of duty that service instilled in him. His service was one of the many chapters of a life filled with experiences, stories, friendships, and memories that he was always willing to share.
Ellsworth was a man who believed in showing up for the people he loved. He took great pride in his family and was especially proud of the accomplishments, growth, and achievements of his children and grandchildren. Their successes were his successes, and their happiness brought him tremendous joy.
A Man Full of Personality and Passion
Those who knew Ellsworth will remember that he was never short on personality. He had a wonderful sense of humor, often accompanied by his unmistakable sarcasm and extreme expressions that could leave everyone laughing.
He loved giving the people he cared about their own special nicknames, creating an affectionate language that made his relationships uniquely his own. He was a gifted storyteller who loved to reminisce, revisit memories, and share stories from days gone by. Whether telling a story for the first time or bringing one back that everyone had already heard, Ellsworth had a way of making people listen—and usually laugh along the way.
He had a genuine love for electronics, gadgets, and anything new and interesting in the world of technology. He enjoyed exploring how things worked and keeping up with the latest devices and innovations.
Music was another great passion. Ellsworth was a huge music fan, and Michael Jackson was among his favorite artists. Music brought him joy and became part of the soundtrack of many memories throughout his life.
He was also a passionate sports fan, proudly supporting both the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His loyalty to his teams was strong, and anyone who knew him likely knew exactly where he stood on game day!
And then there were his beloved sneakers—affectionately called his “tennys.” They were more than just shoes; they were part of his style and personality, another little piece of Ellsworth that those who loved him will always remember.
