David Bryant

Capitol Heights, Maryland

David Israel Bryant, 38, of Capitol Heights, MD, passed away on January 1, 2022

David, affectionately called “The Professor” and Dave by his friends was an only child born on November 9, 1983, to Mealony Jean Thomas and Ojay Earnest Simmons in Washington, DC. David was a product of both The District of Columbia and Prince George County public school system where he graduated from Forestville High School. David had dreamed of a professional career in Information Technology (IT) where he attended Phoenix University majoring in Network Engineering.

After completing core classes from Phoenix University, David spent some time in the Job Corps where he met Shevaile Wiley. This relationship resulted in the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Nyasia Wiley who is David’s only child.

David worked numerous jobs before starting his career at the United States Postal Service which he was employed until the day of his passing.

Like most young adults, David loved all things that had to do with computers and technology that shaped him to become an avid gamer. He loved playing video games as this was his pastime activity for relaxation and relieving a day of stress. David spent lots of time playing games. David loved to spend time with his daughter Nyasia where they would find themselves on road trips. While David loved a genre of music, however his favorite Christian group was For King and Country.

For those who met David and knew him, he had a way of touching people that I did not find out about until his early teen years. When we were out walking, and yes that was extremely rare for a teen son to be out with his mamma, but strangers would approach me and start telling me of all the amazing and wonderful things he had and was doing for them. Yes, that was a proud moment!

David had developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. Every morning before he stepped out of the house for work, he would pray and days before he died my son prayed for me. I cannot speculate on what was indeed happening in his life but that The Holy Spirit would move him to pray for me tells me that his relationship was intact.

Anyone who knew the Professor realized he was a devoted father and loved his mom and family; so, while our grief has been deep and our world rocked by his death, we find peace and comfort that David has gone home to be with the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David is survived by his daughter, Nyasia Wiley, his mother and father Mealony Jean Thomas and Ojay Earnest Simmons, Aunts Mesha Thomas and Lori Ann Macrae and a host of family and friends.
