A Time to be Born and to Serve\n\nCarrington Lee Diggs was born September 22, 1926, to the late Leaner (Turner) Diggs and the late William Diggs in\nTye River, VA. In the 1940s during his late teenage years, he was drawn to more opportunity in the big city and\nmoved to Washington D.C. In 1950, Carrington was called to serve and enlisted in the United States Army. He was\nstationed in El Paso, TX as a solider until an injury required him to be honorably discharged.\n\nA Time to Love and Provide\n\nFollowing his military service, Carrington returned to Washington, D.C. One night at a house gathering, he met the\nlove of his life, Malcinia Mae (Duvall) Diggs. On August 26, 1955, they married in Washington, D.C. Just one year\nlater in March, they welcomed their first child, Carrington D. “Pete” Diggs, followed by a second son, Tyrone L.\nDiggs born in 1961.\nEver a diligent provider with a strong work ethics, Carrington worked as a tractor trailer driver for Giant Food\nwhere he received the Service Award for 30+ years of service followed by his retirement in November 1991. During\nhis retirement, he loved spending time with his family for cookouts or BINGO games, caring for his home or\nassisting his neighbors in the community.\n\nA Time to Die\n\nCarrington was called home to God on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the age of 96 years old. He was preceded in\ndeath by his wife, Malcinia Mae (Duvall) Diggs; son, Tyrone L. Diggs; mother, Leaner Diggs; father, William Diggs;\nbrothers, William Diggs and Theodore Diggs; and sisters, Eva Urquhart, Mary Hudson and Marie Pressley.\n\nA Time to Cherish Memories\n\nLife will never be the same without Carrington here on earth, but his memory will live on through the legacy he has\nleft behind for his son Carrington D. Diggs (Paula); grandchildren, Chartése D. Torrence (Roderick), Dionna N.\nDiggs, Carrington D. Diggs, Jr. (Kimberlyn), and Tyrone L. Diggs, II; great-grandchildren, Amaris S. Torrence,\nVanessa Chavez-Regis Diggs and Trenton L. Smiley Diggs; sisters, Edith Johnson and Annie Mae Dorsey; and a host\nof nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
