\nYou were an amazing person, full of life and vitality\n\nBobby G Royall transitioned from this earthly life at 84 on Christmas Eve, December 24,\n2022, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.\nBobby was born December 21, 1938, in Goldsboro, NC, to the late U.Z. and Elouise\nRoyall. Raised in Goldsboro, he was one of six siblings. Bobby attended Goldsboro\nPublic Schools and graduated from Dillard High School in 1959. At an early age, he\nbecame a caddy at the Goldsboro Country Club and developed a love of golf. He became\nan avid golfer and often played with friends at the same club.\nAfter school, he joined the United States Army, serving for three years and leaving with\nan honorable discharge. After that, he relocated to Atlantic City, where he worked with\nhis uncle behind the scenes at the Miss USA pageant. In 1964 he met the love of his life,\nBarbara (Barb) Vailes, and the two moved to D.C., married, and spent a beautiful 44\nyears together until she died in 2008.\nBobby worked for the Department of Defense in Washington D.C., until his retirement\nin 2013. After his retirement, he worked part-time with the Northwind Group. Bobby\nwas a faithful member of Allen Chapel AME Church. He served on the trustee board for\nmany years. He was also a member of the male chorus. He loved his hometown and was\na member of his high school reunion organization, Dillard Alumni Chapters in both\nGoldsboro, NC, and Washington, DC.\nBobby was one of the most exuberant people you could meet. His friendly, outgoing\npersonality was genuinely infectious, and people always gravitated to him. He enjoyed\nplaying cards and dancing. If the Redskins (Commanders) played on Sunday, you knew\nBobby would be watching the game. He deeply loved his family, and they will forever\nremember him for his warmth, jokes, and laughter.\nIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Vailes Royall,\ntwo brothers, Adolph and Velinzo Royall, and one sister Edna Broadhurst. He leaves to\ncherish his memories his sisters, Ruby Hudson of Goldsboro, NC, Mattie Coley, Raleigh,\nNC, and sisters-in-law Maryann Royall (Adolph) of Clinton, Maryland, and Margaret\nRoyall, of Suitland Maryland (Velinzo), nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and\nfriends.
