Arthur Miller

–

Bowie, Maryland

Arthur Craig Miller, born August 22, 1961, in Kingston, NY, was the eldest of two sons. He passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 63. A devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Arthur was known for his kindness, independence, and unwavering faith. His life was a testament to generosity and compassion, touching countless lives through his personal and professional endeavors.

At 17, Arthur moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where he attended Howard University and later earned a degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College. Arthur worked as a Senior Applications Engineer and Grant Management Analyst at Synectics for Management Decisions, Inc. for over 18 years.

A man of deep faith, Arthur was an active member of New Progressive Baptist Church, where he mentored youth as superintendent of the Junior Sunday School. He also attended Reid Temple in Bowie, MD, and Third Street Church of God in Washington, D.C.

Arthur was blessed to find true love twice. He first married Kimberly Partlow in 1998, who preceded him in death in 2007. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the world, particularly through scuba diving—a passion he pursued throughout his life. He traveled to destinations like Fiji, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Africa, Cuba, Hawaii, and throughout the Caribbean. But it was marrying the love of his life, Kim Terrell-Miller, on October 26, 2024, in a breathtaking underwater ceremony in Grenada’s new underwater wedding chapel, that was the highlight of his life. They became the first Black couple in the world to marry underwater while scuba diving.

Arthur joined Underwater Adventure Seekers (UAS) and the National Association of Black Scuba Divers (NABS) in 1998. He was a member of NABS’ Safety Team, Aqua Corps, and served as UAS’s inaugural Club Historian and three-term president, during which the club won NABS’ Club of the Year Award. Arthur was also an avid softball player for many years. Known affectionately as “The Big Hurt,” he played on the National Mall for the Smithsonian Institution and spent an additional decade as an integral member of a local recreational league in Bowie, MD.

Beyond his professional and adventurous pursuits, Arthur was a passionate fan of all New York sports teams, especially the Giants, Bills, Yankees, Mets, and Knicks. He also cherished family moments, including bowling with his dad and brother. Music was another of his great passions, from drumming in his high school marching band to being an enthusiastic fan of various genres, especially jazz, funk, gospel, and soul.

Christmas was Arthur’s favorite holiday, and he made it special with his thoughtful gift-giving and his collection of over 100 unique Black Santa Clauses. His vibrant personality and love for his family made every holiday memorable.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Kim Terrell-Miller; parents, Joyce and Arthur W. Miller; brother, Darrin (Michelle); niece, Nyasha; nephew, David; and a host of in-laws, family members, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, faith, and adventure will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
