Alfred W. (Donnie/Zak) Anderson was born to Alfred and Leona Anderson in Steubenville, Ohio on December 26, 1943, and on January 26, 2025, he fell asleep in Yehovah. Alfred was raised in Wintersville, Ohio and graduated from Wintersville High School in 1962. During those years he excelled academically and was an avid player of sports such as football, basketball and weightlifting. Not long after graduating from high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served two years in (West) Germany. After completing his time in the service, and returning to the U.S., he resumed his job at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked for 24 years. During his retirement years he did volunteer work for the Salvation Army and the Pleasant Valley Men’s Shelter as the assistant manager and his associates described him as one of the hardest working and most caring individuals that they had ever met. Alfred always encouraged his family to never give up no matter what life brought your way and was a fighter to the very end. Although Alfred didn’t have any children of his own, he had a deep and fond connection with each of his nieces and nephews and all other children around him. He was always one that his family and friends could count on in a wide range of circumstances. Alfred is preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Jesse Aldridge, David Lavender, and sister Juanita Livingston (Creech). He is survived by his brother Norman Crease Sr., nieces Renee Evans, Melissa (Kevin) Gaither, Darlene Evans, Diane Lavender and nephews, Jesse Aldridge Jr. (Evenlyn), Ray, Michael, Jon and Daniel Crease, Kenny Lavender (Monique), Dwayne (Quenna) and Keith (Sonia) Livingston along with a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and cousins.
