Afolabi Faturoti Obituary (1957 - 2020)

Afolabi J. Faturoti was born February 15, 1956 in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He was the thirteenth child out of seventeen, born to Pa William Faturoti Agee. His mother was late Madam Mepoworola Florence Faturoti. Afolabi was baptized as an infant on January 6, 1957 in Ise-Ekiti. He attended St. Marks Anglican Primary School, Ise-Ekiti, from 1962 to 1968 following St. Marks Modern School. Thereafter, he attended Ise-Emure Grammar School where he was known as a swift soccer player; graduating in 1974. After graduating, he moved to Lagos and was a teacher at Aladura Secondary School. He also worked at the Nigerian Shipping Lane in Lagos up until he relocated to the United States on May 21, 1980. Upon his relocation he worked at different jobs while enrolled full-time at Southeastern University, Washington, DC. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1984 and continued his education to receive a Master’s of Business Administration in 1986. Afolabi was self-employed as an Uber Driver until his transition. Afolabi met his wife, Olubunmi, in 1978 – the union has been blessed with four children and two grand-children. Afolabi transitioned from this life, on November 19, 2020 and the angels escorted him to God. Let us all remember Afolabi through the fruit of the Spirit and be kind to one another. Life is but a blink of an eye; all the things that the flesh obtains remains here on Earth. All things spiritual go with us to Heaven. (Galatians 5:22-26) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Afolabi is survived by his wife Olubunmi; Children Mobolaji (Olufunsho), Olugbolahan (Alexandra), Omotola & Folamade; Grandchildren Olubukinmi & Olutomiwa; Siblings Rachael Ogunlegan, Felicia Jegede, Julianah Ajagole, Matthew Faturoti, Marian Kolawale, Grace Falade, Margaret Oni & Timothy Faturoti; Families - Falaye, Ogunlegan, Falade, Kumapayi, Oluwole, Aber & Akinrimisi; - and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
