“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7
Adrian Dennis Summers, of Waldorf, Maryland, departed this life on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was 63 years old.
Adrian was born on December 6, 1962, at Freedmen’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. As an
infant, he was adopted by Andrew and Mary Summers, who cherished him from the day they welcomed him home and lovingly raised him in Silver Spring, Maryland. He grew up in the pews of Walker Memorial Baptist Church and was actively involved in youth sports.
Adrian was educated in Montgomery County Public Schools, where he discovered a love and talent for track and field. Known for his dedication and commitment to his team, he graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1981.
In 1984, Adrian enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country as a Specialist until his honorable discharge in 1990. His military service strengthened qualities that would remain with him throughout his life—discipline, order, precision, and a determination to get things right the first time.
Following his military service, Adrian enjoyed a long career as a logistician supporting federal government contracts. In 2013, he stepped away from his career to care for his father, Andrew. For Adrian, caring for his father was not simply a responsibility; it was something he considered a privilege and a pleasure to do.
In 1996, Adrian met Nichelle Millings, the woman who would become his wife and lifelong partner. They married in 2006 and shared 30 years of love, companionship, and partnership. Together, they built a life centered on family and the everyday moments that become treasured memories.
Adrian was the devoted father of three children: Kevin Durell Summers, Jasmine Danielle
Summers, and Camille Nicole Summers. Fatherhood brought him tremendous joy. Some of his happiest hours were spent simply sitting on the couch beside his children, watching movies, talking, laughing, and listening as they shared what was happening in their lives. Those ordinary moments meant everything to him.
Adrian also loved the water and was an avid fisherman. His idea of a perfect Saturday began early, with a trip to Kent Island, his rod and reel, and the patience that fishing requires. Few things pleased him more than returning home with a big catch to share with family and friends—especially catfish. For Adrian, fishing was more than a pastime; it was a place of peace, patience, and simple joy.
Adrian was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Andrew and Mary Summers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of twenty years, Nichelle (Millings) Summers; his children, Kevin Durell Summers, Jasmine Danielle Summers, and Camille Nicole Summers; his devoted mother-in-law, Bernadette Millings; his sister-in-law, Nicole Gibbs; and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Adrian’s life was marked by service—to his country, to his family, and especially to those he loved. His was a life found not only in major accomplishments, but in faithfulness: caring for his father, providing for his family, listening to his children, sharing his catch, enjoying a good movie, and simply being present.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the love Adrian gave so freely remains. His family will carry forward the memories, lessons, laughter, and quiet moments that made him uniquely theirs.
